I've been looking for a wireless access point to extend the range of my Apple Airport Extreme base station for a while, and when a friend recommended I take a look at the access point his office uses, I thought , it would be good enough for Fortune 100, that would be more than enough for my needs. It more than met my expectations! We mainly use Apple devices in our house, so I was concerned that this device would be difficult to set up on a Mac. However, it was intuitive and easy. I followed…

pretty good but quirky; selects Heartbeat from Google

For the price and features this is a good access point. However, the web interface is a bit clunky; At one point I thought it was buggy because it didn't seem to save the name (SSID) I had specified, so reverted to the software-generated SSID. It turns out I didn't click 'Save' in a place where I expected it to. After I figured it out, things got better. While this supports IPv6 fairly well, another quirk is that the place to enter the NTP server only accepts a hostname or dotted quad, not a…

Overall I am very happy with his work and would buy him again. A few tips/suggestions for customization. 1) Use the built-in web interface. While this can be done by plugging the EAP1250 directly into the PC's Ethernet port, my PCs are Ultrabooks and don't have an Ethernet adapter (I too would prefer to just plug into my…

Setting up the browser is tedious; slower than connecting to a router

I bought this to put in a room at the other end of the house from the router where I have poor Wi-Fi reception. The first difficulty was that the device arrived with an IP address of 192.168.1.1 that matched my router. It would be better if it was in DHCP mode. As a result, I had to disconnect my computer from the router, connect it to my computer, manually configure my computer's network card to use the address ta192.168.1.xx so that it's on the same subnet as the access point, since my…
