I've had these knives for about a year now.

Relatively new, for a hobby. Bought these knives a year ago and they have held up well. I watched some Doug Linker videos, looked at photos of other people's work and stuck with it. This set mainly uses medium and small knives. They held up well and got a good lead. I cut them at the end of each "session"; about 2 hours carving. Watch the linker video on alignment. It's a great pastime and a good portable hobby. "It will take about an hour to inspect your car." No problem, I have a sun lounger…

Great starter kit. suitable for cutlery and knife accessories

I love these knives for planing and carving wood. There are some very expensive knives on the market, but not sure how much I would enjoy planing/carving I didn't want to spend a lot of money going back to it. It's been many years since I've planed/carved and at the time it was a mediocre pocket knife. They fit well in my hand and are easy to control. They hold the blade well and with the supplied peeling paste and a leather sling (I had one), the razor blade can be saved with a little practice

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish

8 weeks later my finger is almost functional again

Yes, 5 stars. I used these tools as instructed by my teacher and one of them slipped due to bad luck - no technique or anything. The tree had a pocket and oops. straight into my joint. These suction cups are so sharp they went right in and severed the tendon in my middle finger and my finger was bent and jammed. I had to do internal and external stitches and see an orthopedist for a PT. So why a good rating? Because you're not asking if they're good for cutting grout, you're asking if they're…

Bad craftsmanship! for knife sets

The knives are so sharp that they tore the packaging the first time. (See photos). Assuming it might have been mishandled at the time of delivery, I tried the flex cut again. What mistake! A brand that claims to be made in the USA could be of better quality. Maybe I was unlucky twice. The second device I ordered had a black sticky substance on the grip. Speaking of the grip, it was rough and not even properly aligned. Upon further observation, it turned out that the epoxy was not even properly…

Carving Sharp, comfortable handles, quality workmanship

Probably because I started with craft knives, I LOVE these Flexcut knives. This set of much shorter yet strong blades benefits clean carving. Instead of "One blade fits all shapes", the set contains three knives with different blade shapes for finer work, linear work and faster and smoother material removal. The wood handles are polished to a 'rough' sanded texture, making them 'grippy' while still providing comfort for moderately long carving sessions. The ergonomics of the entire handle/blade

First project using the Flexcut Starter Kit

I found these knives easy to use, relatively sharp right out of the box and easy to keep sharp. They held their edge well even when working through tough branches and dried sap. The price of the set seems reasonable and the instruments appear to be well constructed. Most of my woodworking experience is with power tools, but I recently received a birthday gift from Working Wood 1 & 2: Craftsman Course with Paul Sellers and am exploring Paul's workshop. Woodworking courses using only hand tools…

Good price in a beginner's set

Flexcut knives are great for a beginner carver like me and this set has pretty much everything you need except for a leather belt that you can make yourself from an old belt , a piece of wood and glue. I use mine for carving sticks and sometimes rough sculpting, but I hope it gets better with practice ;-). The trick to getting these knives to cut well is to pull fast each time you use them and never try to pry or poke the wood - Flexcut uses a fairly hard spring steel which offers a very sharp…
