I love these knives for planing and carving wood. There are some very expensive knives on the market, but not sure how much I would enjoy planing/carving I didn't want to spend a lot of money going back to it. It's been many years since I've planed/carved and at the time it was a mediocre pocket knife. They fit well in my hand and are easy to control. The knives are so sharp that they tore the packaging the first time. (See photos). Assuming it might have been mishandled at the time of delivery, I tried the flex cut again. What mistake! Probably because I started with craft knives, I LOVE these Flexcut knives. This set of much shorter yet strong blades benefits clean carving. Instead of "One blade fits all shapes", the set contains three knives with different blade shapes for finer work, linear work and faster and smoother material removal. Flexcut knives are great for a beginner carver like me and this set has pretty much everything you need except for a leather belt that you can make yourself from an old belt , a piece of wood and glue. I use mine for carving sticks and sometimes rough sculpting, but I hope it gets better with practice ;-).
