My fountain pump broke down a few years ago. It was twice the size of this one but probably the same in terms of power and water performance. With a little effort I was able to install a much smaller one but still submerge it in water and the results were great. You can't hear the pump at all, just a splash of water in the well. I bought this to replace an existing pump in a small fountain. The original pump was a bit smaller and not adjustable so I had to move the hose and adjust the lever on the side to get the same effect. Once this is done it works fine.
