Bearings are bad!

One of the two I received hears a strange noise within 20 minutes of first use which sounds like the ball bearings are broken! They really blow a lot of air for such small fans! I just wouldn't expect them to last long!

Pros
  • Case Fan
Cons
  • No Instructions

No normal fan speed signal for internal components

The two fans I received are working fine (ie moving air) but there doesn't seem to be any speed signal. I don't have an oscilloscope to check if the signal is completely absent or slightly out of spec (e.g. too weak, too loud), but my motherboard can't detect the signal (if any). I tried several different fan headers that I know were good and none of them gave me any fan speed feedback.

Pros
  • Computer components
Cons
  • I'm concerned about this

For radiators or desktop fans, they move some air!

You can feel them from across the room. They can be quite loud when mounted on a box due to resonance. In general they are pretty calm. My thermal blanket project failed so I'm using it as a desktop fan. They move air with precision.

Pros
  • Fans and cooling
Cons
  • Hard to say
