Not stainless, not Japanese!

Each knife is marked 'China' which means it was made in China and not Japan. big stain on it. How could they miss the big stain when they packed it for shipping to me? Lack of maintenance and detailing for an expensive set of knives. Wouldn't buy again, I would recommend looking at other brands that take their knives seriously.

  • Confident

These knives have been rated BEST by Consumer Reports.

Blades are not sharp when delivered. Several attempts to sharpen the blade were unsuccessful. The grips appear to have a sandy texture. I do not recommend these knives to anyone. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the product and the performance. I tried using a paring knife to peel peaches. Eventually I gave up on that knife and pulled out my $7 Fabreware knife to get the job done.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Socket required

These knives are rusting! Best in knife sets

I bought these knives in March 2019 based on a review of consumer reports saying they were very good value for money. It's been less than a year and they're rusting! yes it rusts Even if the food patty is made of stainless steel to prevent exactly that. All I can say is that the chromium or nickel content must be inferior. And just to be clear, I dry my knives after every wash and put them in the sheath that came with them.

  • good thing

  • big and bulky

Rust spots after 3 weeks.

I've been using these knives for 3 weeks and they already have rust spots. I hand wash them and dry them after use but that doesn't seem to help. The knives themselves work great, very sharp but for the price (and the "stainless" claim) I would expect them to last longer. We tried using a fellow bartender on the affected areas, but it didn't work. Save money and buy cheap knives or spend real money and choose the best. This is not the best mid-range option.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Reliability

Not like it used to be.

A friend has a smaller set from a few years ago that looks, feels and performs well. I was happy to receive this set but unfortunately it is a piece of excrement. Two of the knives are missing the logo and the wooden block looks and feels cheap. Not to mention the glue and "wood" is bubbling and sticking out everywhere. Knives are DULL. I slip them over my fingers and hands and nothing. If I do that with my Kalfalon, I'll be in intensive care. Save time and money and skip them. I have the…

Outstanding sharpness. but the reviews are right, they rust :(

We were desperate for new knives so bought this set after tossing about between different sets for a few days. We received them and loved the weight, the sharpness and the weight just the general density. One thing I do NOT like is some knives rust. As they are stainless steel they shouldn't. We have Japanese knives, some in Bought in Japan so we can take proper care of our knives but I don't understand why they rust and have stains, I'm disappointed I'm not sure if the knife can be replaced or

DO NOT BUY THIS!: Knife sets

It was just terrible. My first order came and it turned out to be a reusable set. The knives were in an unsealed box in the shipping carton, each lazily wrapped in a different package. The block looked as if it had been assembled by a three-year-old, the workmanship was abysmal. The knives were sharp but dirty. Then my husband noticed that the logo was only printed on the end of the bread knife and one knife had the logo smudged and faded. The rest were unmarked, although photos on Amazon show…

Quality knives at a reasonable price

I am not a professional chef. I don't cook or cut much with high volume. I appreciate good kitchen knives that cut food rather than tear or puree it. First I wanted a santoku knife and a second pairing knife and a chef's knife. I like the handles and the balance of the longer knives. I hand sharpen with the Norton Arkansas 3 Stone System. They weren't that sharp out of the box. They sharpen well and hold the edge well. I deliberately did without the extra steak knives. I can get a ceramic…
