Anyone who has noticed that this does not prevent your carpet from slipping can run into problems if your floor has dust and sand. Dirt causes friction that prevents the non-slip surface from sticking to the floor. I found this to be great for keeping my rug from slipping.

This is a good mat but the rubber material is a braid of small thin strips. I have other mats that are made of thicker round segments (almost like a flattened airsoft BB) that provide more cushion and even better support. The type sold here works, but I would recommend a different type instead if you can find it.

I have used several different carpet pads, from a heavy duty carpet pad in the living room to this inexpensive one I bought for our hallway. Runner.
