The real test was trying it on a boning knife that had been completely dull and unusable for a long time. It has definitely been sharpened. It is durable in look and feel. There should be 3 different types of sharpeners; coarse medium and fine. The goods sent to me are different. He has an average and 2 penalties. This is used as is, but differently than expected. For the price, this sharpener does the job well. My husband has large hands so there wasn't enough room between the handle and the bar. He had to adjust to his ankles but the pitch was good for me. Stable. I had to make sure I was holding my knife and found it sharpened a few times as it had some rough edges to begin with. The knife cuts better after use, but the noise it makes gives me goosebumps like nails on a blackboard. Overall a good product, especially for the price!
