Not too shabby for drawing media

Good all-purpose black ink. Not as opaque as I'd like and not very viscous, so it's a little harder to use with calligraphy nibs that don't have gum arabic added.

Pros
  • Flowy, fade-resistant, dye-based ink
Cons
  • Some cons

Ink for beginners

This ink is not black at all. It's more of a dark gray if you want it to be black and requires you to really layer it if you want it black, but it doesn't smell or smell funny and it's waterproof and cheap. I would recommend this for practical use or you can write normally. If you want a gray fill for artwork, this is a good ink for that (it's not ink either).

Pros
  • Art supplies, drawing
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

Not suitable for calligraphy on vellum

I bought this ink for a calligraphy project on vellum. Unfortunately, I had a deadline and this project looked terrible with this mascara. Everything looked fine at first, but after a minute the ink spread on the parchment, making the inscription look dirty. Also, it's so thin that when dry, the calligraphy looked as if it had been done in a washing machine and the ink looked watered down. I've used speedball ink in the past with predictable results. Obviously, not all calligraphy inks are…

Pros
  • Ink
Cons
  • String is shorter than other sets
