This is a sponge. He destroys things.

I needed this so I got it. It's quite large and allowed me to make my own biofilter. I could probably get two more of this piece. I think it's expensive for what it is, but what's the alternative? That helped.

Good quality filter media

This filter media works very well and the quality is very good to last a long time. I wish it was a little thicker to accommodate more airborne particles before it needs cleaning. I'm using it for another device so it might just be my problem. I recommend it.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Let the Filtration Begin

Instead of buying disposable filter media I chose this one. I rinsed then soaked then rinsed again before placing them in the aquarium. There seemed to be a slight odor but the fish did not react negatively after going through the above steps. Now I just take out the trimmed pieces and rinse them in a bucket of clean aquarium water once a month.

Pros
  • Good Thing
Cons
  • Secret

Aquarium Users Read: What's That Smell?

Do you know how many people have complained about the petrochemical smell in the reviews here? Not my set of pads. Both my wife and I have independently concluded that these pads were sprayed with a very common air freshener known to 'neutralize' odors at some point in the supply chain. Fixed odor issue. #facepalmAquarium keepers like me stay away. If unavoidable, use an unscented, glycerine-based soap to wash off both the original petrochemicals and the air freshener, and rinse until the odor…

  • Decent performance
