No humidifier, wet towel works better

This humidifier is terrible. I live in Denver, Colorado where the humidity is very low. A humidity of 30% is normal. It's so dry here that wet clothing dries quickly, so you'd think any humidifier would quickly disperse water vapor. NOT THE CASE. This stupid thing lasts a damn day for almost two full days on a single tank of water. The fan is so weak or so poorly designed that it simply can't get enough air through the wick filter to humidify effectively. My latest wick filter (Holmes) used up…

Unusable - and probably can't return it.

This seemed to be the answer to our prayers when we woke up with dry eyes every morning before purchasing. When we installed it, it seemed like heaven. We also bought a hygrometer to measure humidity and everything was fine for the first few days. It went up to 30% but now it's down to 22. Our eyes are dry again and we even checked the hygrometer elsewhere and it's working fine. Which brings us back to that moisturizer that's practically useless to us right now. We haven't had them that long…

Does the job and runs very quietly at the lowest speed

I bought this for my bedroom to deal with dry skin and nose in the cold season when the relative humidity tends to be under to drop to a comfortable level. I run it at the lowest speed almost constantly and it has increased the relative humidity from less than 40% to 50-60% which has been very helpful. He uses about half a gallon of water a day this way. I've only used distilled water and haven't had any issues with scale, mold or buildup of any kind. About once a week I turn the absorbing…

I used to have an ultrasonic humidifier and just didn't know any better. After a while, pink slime and weird stains on my furniture finally drove me to explore the area. This humidifier does a great job without the need for visible vapor in the air. Be sure to use a hygrometer to check the humidity in your room. My humidity went from teenage lows to mid-30s during that harsh winter using just the low setting. The water tank is also very easy to clean thanks to the wide opening. The filter has…

Easy to maintain, meets my expectations. Some tips.

I have two large (and rather noisy) whole house wick humidifiers, one on each floor. But our large family room at the other end of the house wasn't getting enough moisture. So I was looking for something quiet and easy to clean for a room. It helps. With a new wick, a filled reservoir will last approximately 24 hours at low temperature. He increased the humidity of the 30 x 30 cm room by about 10-15%. Low is quiet enough for a TV room. As with all wick humidifiers, the main enemy is…

Great as a white noise generator and humidifier in one.

My 6 month old had a permanent crust on his nose after we moved to Boston. I figured a humidifier in his room might help. I did a lot of research on humidifier types before deciding on a filtered evaporative humidifier. We wanted something safe, effective and low maintenance. When I was 2 years old I burned my cheek with a warm steam humidifier so that option was out of the question. Don't let history repeat itself with my child. I also vented cool steam dispersing water using ultrasonic…

Overall very happy with it

I've only had this for a short time so I may have to come back and edit it later but I'm very happy so far. One of the reasons I wanted to write this review is because I asked a question about whether you can use a Protec cartridge in this model to keep it clean. Respondents didn't know, but when I read the instructions that came with it, I found that they recommend using it. I am particularly impressed by the ease of care. The tank is easy to lift and replace, and easy to clean. it is also…

Deceptively simple, but simply the best

As an experimental scientist, I tend to be cautious about the equipment and technology I buy. Humidifiers may seem like low-tech devices, and you might think they're more or less the same. They all saturate the air with moisture using simple mechanisms. How big can the difference be? I didn't put much stock in it until I recently had to replace my old ones. Past experience has taught me to avoid ALL ultrasonic and warm fog models. Ultrasonic models are quiet, but leave white dust in the room…
