Good for the price.

Well worth the price. But there are a few things to consider. First, rounded ends are nice, but the edges are sharp. Small problem, but also a bit annoying. Secondly, the board must be dampened and sanded several times so that it does not become rough. At this price point it would be overpriced, but it's also something you'll want to do yourself if you're worried about the roughness. Third, it would be nice if there were silicone pads for the legs at the bottom. I assume it's reversible, but…

Best of the best in the Kitchen & Dining category

I use the same few expensive knives on a regular basis and I want them to stay as sharp as possible. This board is like a cutting table in my tiny kitchen. Yes, it takes a bit of effort to prepare and maintain, but so does any quality product. Mine was dry as dust. It took two days of preparation to get it in the "right" state. Do not use plastic, glass, EVER unless you need dull knives. Knives should work. When you need to cut food, your knife is blunt. Invest in one of these, read the…

Good chopping board (for the price)

This is my second John Boos Maple chopping board. My first size was 15" x 20" x 1.25". I've also had issues with gaps at the edges of the board, between laminate joints. Penetrate the cracks, dry thoroughly, then sand. I have the board never soaked in a sink despite running it on tap water. In short, I have a love-hate relationship with John Boos blocks. Order my second 18" x 12" block, mainly because the price is right and it looks good; if it's noticeable and cracks badly, I can fix the…

Terrible quality, good quality for the kitchen and dining room

In less than 2 months the board started cracking/splintering on both edges. There are many other reviewers reporting the same issue here on Revain. As with others, I've often applied Boo's Mystery Oil and Cream here, but it didn't stop the cracking. My recommendation: DO NOT BUY!

Pros
  • A sustainable alternative to plastic cutting boards: lightweight, versatile and more knife friendly than plastic cutting boards
Cons

Not a beginner's board for the average "cook "

When you buy this board, you'll make it Do better your homework and understand how to take care of your cutting board. Do not buy this as a gift for someone who doesn't know how to handle a bare cutting board and has never heard of oiling a cutting board. If you want to learn how to maintain this board with minimal care, read Kitchen Care Basics with Babish. All the negative reviews and photos I see are grey, damn dry boards that haven't had the slightest bit of maintenance. This board comes…

Easy on knives

3 weeks later: My good kitchen knife dulled after just a few slices on a glass cutting board, but it stays put all night with this wood.Very happy with the purchase so far.As mentioned in other reviews you will need soft grit sandpaper to smooth out the rough surface.Curing: According to the product description it is pre-cured.If that is true I would hate to see as it was before they fixed it! The board arrived completely dry as if it had sat in the desert sun for a century. It sounded very…
