An essential wooden cutting board

The mysterious oil does the job as expected. I applied it to my 10 year old cutting board and left it overnight. The cutting board soaked up the oil and looked a lot wetter. The price is a bit high but worth the investment to protect my expensive cutting board. Edit: After seeing others complain about a possible fake with a white label, I checked my bottles and they all have the mysterious white label as well. When I took it off, the boos block is still visible underneath. Maybe I'm just lucky.

This oil keeps each block vibrant and beautiful. Depends on your usage

I use this stuff religiously. I cook a lot at a high level and use large expensive cutting boards that wear out quickly. From meat to vegetables and everything with wet wipes in between. Typically, the block dries quickly, both in terms of efficiency and appearance. This oil keeps each block vibrant and beautiful. Depending on your usage, you should apply frequently. Don't be shy and be safe - leave it on for at least a few hours, and even better overnight. Also apply their wax. You need both…

Learn more Bang for the buck

This food-grade mineral oil mixes very well with your cutting board wood. I personally applied by hand. This will help you feel for dry patches and avoid waste as the wipe absorbs more product than a wipe applicator. Your cutting block will look like new almost immediately. Think of this oil as "Thompson's Water Seal" for your block of meat. Water is the scourge of all blocks and this oil protects the block from water absorption and block deformation. Spend a little more and enjoy your…

Great for cutlery and knife making

I use John Boos Mystery Oil on two Boos cutting boards along with a pizza peel and another wooden cutting board I have. While the process of oiling boards isn't necessarily clean (it's oil, after all), it certainly isn't dirty. The oil absorbs very well into the boards and I have found that a treatment usually lasts two to four weeks depending on the intensity of use. When a board is first treated it may not last as long as there is a lot of wood for the oil to penetrate. The oil leaves no…

So happy with how my butcher block looks on my island

I have been using mineral oil for 3 years and finishing it off with beeswax. Decided to try this "Mystery Oil" and I'm so glad I did! It's easy and really just one step. What surprised me the most is how long it keeps the beautiful look of wood. It's been a month now and it still looks like I did it just a few days ago. The water is still foaming. It made my block of meat on my island look like new. I will never go back to the old one and luckily this company has been around LONG so I'm not…

Better than new! - Accessories for cutlery and knives

Yes. You can use mineral oil, which is much cheaper. Yes. You can use other brands, but WHY? If you have an expensive cutting board AND cut on it. WHY not take advantage of the extra $$$ and take advantage of this? It's absolutely amazing! I have used many products and have been addicted to John Boos oil. I dry my cutting block. Squeeze the oil onto the block and spread by hand. with the palm down. I'm best letting it sit (overnight). and at midnight. he entered the forest. Then I apply a layer

Board looks better than new!

Well we've had the Boos board for a few years now and I still haven't found mineral oil for it. It still looked good, just dried out more than a little. I finally picked up some Boos brand oil. Since the board hasn't been treated since it was new, I gave it some coats. The first layer was admittedly generous. Not so much that it spills all over the counter, but enough that the board has a distinctly wet look (no puddles). I left the board for a few hours before returning to erase the excess…
