Everything is fine. I got this to match my rope bag which does it. But the functionality is not that great. It's very loose, nothing really happens to prevent everything from falling out even when it snaps into place. Not enough card slots but a huge area dedicated to them. check book. Yes. Like the wallet itself - pockets, light weight, design etc - but I bought a solid black one and it picks up all sorts of lint quickly. If you have pets that shed, think twice about this color. I recommend KAVU to use a different solid cotton for all their black purses and bags (I also have a solid black Sydney school bag; same problem). The clasp could also be a little tighter.
