Incorrect shank size with spigot connection

To be fair, the shank on spigot and flute bits is correct - and there may be 1/4" bits that fit a 5/16" shank. but mine is not one of them. Unfortunately, I bought this 3-piece set almost exclusively because of the finger joint drill. The box is actually correctly labeled 8mm and they are all very well bubble wrapped in their little plastic boxes so two stars for tongue and groove and packaging.

NOT EVEN CLOSE! for power and hand tools

Bit broken on FIRST use. I did what you're supposed to do and just made light passes with White Pine, shaving a little bit at a time. When I pull the racquet out I see that one of the teeth is bent/broken. Even after more than an hour of setting up the milling bench, this was the best "match" I could get with the two boards. It's not even close to the set. I have used many bit sets for milling in the past and have never seen such an uneven "matched pair" of bits. just look up Two differently…

Pros
  • Heavy duty construction
Cons
  • Non automatic

Poorly made and not for the faint of heart,

Difficult to use. Requires a precisely adjusted router guide and many test cuts. In addition, the joint fits. The connection didn't fit perfectly after getting the cuts as good as I thought I was going to get. In the end I decided to abandon the locking miter joint in favor of a simple miter joint. Also, the bits don't feel as sharp. I had to cut slowly so the router table didn't get stuck. The design can be improved by adding a bearing, improving the die head and maybe changing the die head…

  • Absolute Legend
