These mics are the best mics on the market

I use these mics as overhead mics for a six piece drum kit. They are placed in pairs about 42 inches from the center of the sling. The kick and snare mics are placed close together. I'm really impressed with the detail and the overall sound of the setup with this setup. The Lewitt LCT 040 perfectly captures and reproduces a variety of sound sources, from cymbals and hats to the low frequencies of a 16-inch floor tom.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Not the best

Smooth high end

This mic has a very sloppy top end (interestingly they don't show any frequency response). I've used 4 of these mics on a drum kit - bottom-bottom drum, hi-hat, and overhead. I use cloned Neve preamps in the Orion Studio interface for tracking. No matter how hard I EQed, I couldn't get the cymbals to cut through the rock tune mix. I suspect that with quieter music, the smooth tips of these mics would be fine. They just didn't work in my application.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Surprisingly great microphones!

Wow. This is a well matched pair of small condenser microphones. I have a large collection of microphones ranging from $1,000 to $50. I read a review of these mics on another site and thought that for the price they might work as a second pair of overhead mics or for stereo recording on an acoustic guitar. You impressed me the first time. Their build quality is very good, they are exceptionally light but strong. No more heavy stands for heavier mics on overhead drums! They also sound detailed…

Pros
  • I hold my fists
Cons
  • Quality
