It worked on our long hikes. bought these shoes because they had a zipper on the side which would make them easier to put on, unfortunately the zipper was difficult to close from the first day of use and eventually got stuck after 2-3 uses. I would still recommend it if you don't mind using a zipper. It was a bit painful because the zipper wouldn't close and the shoes were so stiff that we had a hard time putting them on our kid.

These are really great boots and my 6 year old son says they are very comfortable. He loves wearing them! I didn't give five stars because the zippers are very stiff so I have to help him get them on and off (definitely defeats the point of kid's zippered shoes) and they are also definitely not waterproof or even truly waterproof in my opinion. My son walked around in it for a bit on a rainy day and his socks got completely wet. Overall I'm very happy with these boots considering the price…

We haven't used them for hiking or anything really outdoors and can't say how they will hold up but they have for our works purposes: turned into chris and martin kratt for halloween. Love the zipper on the inside ankle - we haven't learned how to tie the laces yet and it was nice to tie them once, tie them twice and then let the kids put them on and take them off on their own.
