A beautiful blade but with a terrible finish

A beautiful blade but with a terrible finish. The top of the handle is not seamlessly connected to the blade. There is a visible gap between the blade and the handle where food can get stuck. I noticed this defect and returned it immediately. Photos are attached.

Great utility knife for general use.

Worked for two years and was pleased with the build quality and sharpness. The only problem, like similar Japanese knives, is that it's incredibly sharp. You cannot be careless or cut yourself while using this knife. I was impressed by its ability to stay sharp even though you have to resort to a whetstone to keep it sharp. I have Global, Wüsthof and Yaxell knives and this MAC is comparable in quality and utility.

Unique kitchen tool. Good quality, especially for the price.

I love cooking and I love knives. I bought this a few years ago at the recommendation of Cook's Illustrated and have just ordered two more for each of my children/spouse. This is a unique product that occupies an intermediate position between a chef's knife and a regular cleaver. It took me some getting used to for small tasks, but with a little practice you can do a lot with it. It's really excellent for slicing/chopping large veggies. Very sharp! One thing: I read that you use it for acidic…

Without exception the best vegetarian product you will ever buy.

I'm a vegetarian, so I often cut a lot of fresh vegetables. Do you know how hard it is to find a decent knife that will cut up tomatoes without crippling them? This knife is perhaps one of the best knives for cutting various types of vegetables. It also received an excellent rating from Americas Test Kitchen. This is an extremely sharp knife which actually makes it very safe to use. Makes chopping veggies a pleasure, not a headache. Worth every penny. UPDATE: After 4 months of use this knife is

For vegetables, this is IT. Works perfectly.

oh my god that's a really great paring knife. Does exactly what it promises. The horizontal cut on the underside of the blade is very effective in preventing vegetables from sticking to the top of the knife. I've never seen anything work so well. Spicy? Wow, very very spicy. The blade is thin so you need to be aware of that, but other than that it seems to hold and sharpen well, with a bit of hardening. However, I had to master two things: 1) Because the blade is so sharp and thin, picking up…

rust stains after only 1-2 uses; dried knife immediately after washing

I have spent many hours searching for the right nakiri knife to buy. By right I mean a good balance between quality and value. I have read that this MAC Nakiri knife is a very good quality knife for the price and many people in the kitchen have recommended this knife. Mine showed rust spots after TWO uses (with drying immediately after washing the knife)! Other reviews mention the same issue so I am very skeptical that this seller is selling a legitimate knife. The knife came in a nice box with

Not as good as the old Mac knives.

The Macs were good, I should know, I have three of them - this one, not that many. We have a lot of Mac knives in our knife block. When it came time to buy another knife, I really wanted a different Mac, but a Usuba-style paring knife. I was expecting a regular razor sharp blade and a regular premium Mac fit and finish. The one I received had a terrible fit at the junction of the blade and hilt. The blade protruded above and below the hilt, right where it was held most. Even the handle rivets…
