This is good protection for the blade, but depending on the shape of the blade, the scabbard may not cover the entire blade. The sharp end of my chef's knife gets stuck about an inch from the handle. However, it's not the fault of the product, it's my fault for not thinking about it before buying it.

My drawers don't have separate holes for knives and I don't have room for a block of wood on the counter or place for an insert that keeps them separate in the box.
