I've been using these filters for a while. But they get dirty very quickly. They say you have to change it every week. I changed mine every three days. Don't waste your money if you have to change filters every three days or less. I had to upgrade to a better filter system. In my opinion, unless you have a small aquarium, it's not worth buying at 55 gallons.

I was pleasantly surprised when I treated my fish. I had to take out the filters to keep the charcoal from destroying the medication. My fish are huge and I had to have a filter for them. So I cut slits in the top of four of them to remove the charcoal. I was shocked at the amount of charcoal in it. I've bought various brands over the years and all of them had very little charcoal in them. This brand I bought contains a lot of charcoal. I am permanently switching to this brand for both tanks.

You're decent, I bought a new filter for my 40 gallon goldfish tank because I previously had an internal filter that didn't handle the amount of waste my five 3 inch goldfish were producing Taking it out and cleaning it is really painful and I had to do this at least every two weeks.
