Difficult to set up, broke after a few months

I purchased this item from Revain. This is my third protein skimmer for my aquarium. Previously, the two were different brands. Given the high price, I was hoping that this would be the best device. But that's not the case. It took a lot of effort to get it working properly. It worked for a few months and then stopped working. Maybe the pump, but I'm not sure. I couldn't contact support. In the end I decided to take it as a $400 loss and buy another brand. I would not recommend this device.

Don't Drink Kool Aid

If you have a reef aquarium this would be a great addition to a 50 gallon aquarium. Assembly is easy and the ease of removing the bottom is a big bonus. It takes two hands to rotate the drip tray. The power cord is not aligned with the base of the skimmer and requires force to attach. The product's power cord is thick, not thin, as shown in the product's photo. The skimmer is noisier than my Vortech MP40QD pump or my Tunze return pump, I wouldn't call this skimmer anywhere near silent. This…

  • Stylish and modern design

Quiet but disappointing build quality

I haven't had this skimmer in a very long time so I have no idea how it will perform in the long term. I have a small sump so the compact internal pump design is great. It produced a few microbubbles for a few days, but now it seems to siphon well and is quieter than my return pump. The fine-tuned controls and quiet operation are an improvement over the Bubble Magus Curve 5 it replaced. However, the design and build quality are disappointing given the price and reputation. When assembling the…

Below average skimmer

Save money and look for another skimmer. I stopped using NYOS QUANTUM 120 after only 8 months. It took about 5 weeks for the NYOS to break in and after that it never worked properly. The water level in the skimmer has never risen above the water level in my sump (9 inches). In some cases, the water rose to the bottom of the drip pan but then fell back down (causing the foam that had accumulated - and just before entering the drip pan - to fall back under the skimmer's neck). The controls are…
