Excellent telephoto lens 4/3

I have a sad 12-60 lens for free and this lens is no worse, just further. Everything is great on the lens. I use it on my aging E-3 and get amazing pictures. I even work with the EM1 mk2 with the required adapter with no problem. No noticeable lag or stuttering when acquiring focus. While experts sit in the chair arguing over details, I enjoy the lens and create memories. I like the weather resistance and size/weight of the lens compared to equivalent APC or FF lenses.

Great telephoto lens from Olympus

Great telephoto lens from Olympus. Lightning-fast autofocus, superb build quality. One thing I noticed is that air is being sucked in and out (you can hear and feel it) when you zoom all the way in and out. Most likely from some gaskets in it and the size of the cavity. This is a small detail worth mentioning out of all the wonderful aspects of this lens. Smooth, sharp, quality construction. It should be in the Oly line. *Please note, I bought this item from the Used category, I had a smallโ€ฆ

An amazing lens. suitable for camera lenses

One of the main reasons for switching to Olympus (for me) was lenses: this lens was one of my first purchases alongside the 14-54 II. What can I say - great stuff. Assembly is top notch. AF - Fast. Not totally silent, but quieter than non-SWD lenses. The picture quality is excellent. I don't hesitate to shoot this kid. Reducing the aperture produces even sharper images. My only complaint, which probably has nothing to do with the lens at all, is the "shy" autofocus performance in AF-C mode with

Sharp and fast focus with EM1

I decided to take a chance and bought this lens to use with the EM1. It is intended to be used primarily for shooting sports (Ultimate Frisbee, Rugby, Soccer). I tested it at a rugby match and it was really great! The focus works well (caf, the tracking is too erratic) but it takes a little getting used to. I've shot with borrowed/rented 7D and 70-200L lenses in the past and compared to the 50-200 SWD the EM1 requires a bit more work but it does the job well. Considering it has an effectiveโ€ฆ

Great lens: DSLR lenses

I've been using my 70-300mm for over 1 year, it's a surprisingly good lens for the price (<$400), especially on sunny days. a bit soft at 300mm, looks a bit blurry and the stop is too small. Aperture 5.6 max. If you've used this lens to shoot in the shade, you'll usually end up with blurry images. well, don't blame it for that price. However, when I have that 50-200mm, it's like a myopic person getting their glasses - much clearer. I would say crystal clear. Of course it can't be compared to

What else can you say?

Fast, precise, very sharp, with incredibly beautiful bokeh: if the 12-60 SWD is a superb lens, then this one is in a class of its own. I also have the 70-300 and it's listed on eBay because the 50-200 SWD is superb craftsmanship and quality inside and out. Over 400 RAW/Jpg shots of outdoor parks and streets on Mother's Day from E3 and he only had to look for focus ONCE and that delay was just over a second. and the Zuiko's visual quality proves that the MP count is overrated though. Great 4/3 gem with some minor quirks

Update 2 August 2018 Since then I've bought an E-M1 (not MK II) almost exclusively for this lens. The E-M1 with PDAF has both improved autofocus speed and accuracy. Now it's almost on par with 12-100 on E-M1 or E-M5.2. Autofocus accuracy is no longer an issue; the reason I am rating it 5 stars now. I also uploaded some photos taken with this incredible lens. Incidentally, a used E-M1 is relatively inexpensive (cheaper than a used E-M5.2). Although it's no longer a flagship model, it's still aโ€ฆ

Great lens but maybe not perfect

I bought this lens to replace my Zuiko 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 lens. I was never entirely happy with the 70-300mm due to 1) poor focus in low light, 2) slow focus, 3) not very good image quality, and 4) small aperture. Based on the reviews of this 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 Zuiko lens, I expected all of these issues to be resolved, and they are almost resolved, with the exception of the low-light focus performance. I have to admit I'm a little disappointed in that regard. On several occasions, even in aโ€ฆ

Sharp and fast

I've wanted this lens since I was looking for a DSLR. After I bought my Olympus E-620 it was second on my list of lenses to buy (first was the 14-54mm II because I need a universal zoom). I bought this lens on sale but immediately after ordering it I had a bad feeling. I can't afford this lens! Bought 14-54mm II instead of 12-60mm for budget reasons. I also bought a 50mm macro so I was on a very tight budget. I was determined to bring this lens back and go with the 70-300mm instead to fillโ€ฆ
