The case is metal and looks pretty solid. They take 3 AAA batteries. It works like any other UV black light. The downside is that there is a terrible squeak when you unscrew the lid.

Living in the desert with black light at night is almost necessary because of the number of scorpions we have here. They were great to get because they are compact but work well enough to spot scorpions every night when the dog is taken out and also thrown in the truck when we are camping. I think it was a good order and I will continue to use it every day!

I was really impressed with these black light flashlights. They are tiny so I didn't expect them to be that strong. As you can see in my photo, it lit up the entire area as it descended the stairs to the basement. They are very small and compact and are easy to hold. They are cheap as there are 10 in a pack. The battery department could be a bit better, it took me a minute to figure out how to put the batteries in. Each flashlight requires 3 AAA batteries, these are not included.

Only 9 out of 10 really work. One of them looked like it had been assembled by someone else. It bounced around inside and it only worked with a little shaking or tapping.
