Large and ventilated. Very easy to clean. Doesn't wear out as quickly as most. I've had the same one running for about six months and I've just cleaned it for the first time.

I soaked them according to the instructions. They work great - lots of little air bubbles. I bought these 4 stones instead of buying 2 4" x 2" stones as usual. They seem to produce about the same amount of bubbles, but I'm able to spread more of them, which was my goal. Not sure about durability but I usually change them anyway when they stop working.

I was skeptical about buying these little air stones for my 800 gallon pond. My previous round Airstones lasted over two years and it's time to replace them. I was pleasantly surprised to see that these small but powerful air stones produce an amazing amount of tiny air bubbles. My goldfish love swimming around and through them. I am very happy with my purchase.
