🐠 Penn-Plax 700 Elite Cascade Canister Aquarium Filter Review

Amazing Filter! I've gone through 3 in the last 6 months and this one was the best. My turtle's water has never been clearer and the noise level with a smaller device (no snorkel/waterfall) is very low. The build was very easy - the hardest part was cutting the tubes so make sure you have sharp scissors - but maybe that's because I've been building a lot to compare lately. Purchased to replace a FLUVAL G-3 that supports a 55 gallon aquarium. While FLUVAL is an excellent filtering device, the cost of the filters is prohibitive (extremely expensive). While this unit doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the G-3 does, it's MUCH more economical to maintain and does the same job (at a lower cost). 2 Notes: 1. I bought it in July 2018 but didn't install it until January 2019. I use it in a 20 gallon tank that's a bit crowded with a lot of creatures. While the Elite 700 may seem like overkill for this small tank, it fits my needs perfectly. I used a large hanger on the rear filter and always changed the filter media. It got expensive.
