Good but too expensive

I found this flash much better than the AF360FGZ II in terms of light uniformity and performance but -1 star for the price. Far too expensive for what it is. WHY? are these things so damn expensive?

Pros
  • understandable even for the old one
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

This flash is pretty decent

Great design, nice knobs and it locks into the fixed position of your hot shoe (once I forgot to actually use the locking lever and it stayed!). Has a very good integrated soft case. Very good illumination, do not look at the flash when testing. I should have bought 2 of these when they were way below MSRP.

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

This is a gray market breakout. **No US Warranty**

I like the flash, but it's a gray market item. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but the warranty is only valid in Japan. I'll report this to Revane. This was done by Revain and shipped with Prime. I have the 360FGZ and there is a big improvement in how it feels and performs. I love the weather protection. It feels solid and is very well made. I mostly use TTL mode and it suits my K5 perfectly. I just have to decide whether to return it and get it from B&H or Adorama.

Pros
  • Highest support and durability ratings from testers
Cons
  • Damaged

I'm an unabashed fan of Pentax

Excellent flash. I've been a Pentax fan for many years and really appreciate the image quality and attention to detail. This is a fairly powerful clip-on flash with great versatility. The light cone is very even and the diffuser/tilting head ensures good rebound and soft lighting effects. There is also a very complex remote/slave function. It's pretty heavy, but that's to be expected with a strong flash. Groups of 20-30 at 15-20 feet are evenly lit with no hotspots. I use it with K1 MkII and am

It's nice! The old 540fgz only flashed around.

Disadvantages: No connection for an additional battery! What the hell? Most functions are hidden under push button menus, rather rigid switches. (Switching to HSS? You'll have to hit the sync button a few times to make sure it's correct.) Settings don't persist after power off, so not having hardware switches becomes a real headache. Pro: Weather resistance comes in handy. The flash fires repeatedly without delay if there is enough energy left. It's nice! The old 540fgz flickered about once aโ€ฆ

AF560FGZII is a winner, maybe not

The AF360FGZ has been around for a few years now and we've used it a lot. When the AF 540FGZ II arrived I was amazed to find that it was slightly smaller than the AF360, although slightly heavier. The AF560FGZII is a great performer. So far I've used it mostly with PTTL and it's been accurate every time. Flip/rotate helps create soft, interesting lighting for portraits, even when the flash is on-camera. I am very happy with the flash. The price is a bit higher than we'd like, but it's worth itโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
