IMPROVED DESIGN Over Other Sponge Filters: Course / Porous Aquarium Sponge Filter - Designed For Less Clogging and Greater Intervals Between Cleaning! - See Pictures!. SIZING: One Unit Filters Aquariums 5 gallons and above. A sponge filter provides a vast area on which beneficial organisms can grow, this means that they help to keep your aquarium water extra clean and healthy once they are established. It has been noted in some studies that sponge is actually one of the best materials to use as bio-media, as it provides so much surface area for beneficial organisms to grow on. They also provide mechanical filtration which helps to keep your water crystal clear. EASY: Sponge Filters Are the Easiest Aquarium Filter To Use And Setup! - Sponge filters are powered by air, this works by using an air pump plugged into the sponge filter. As the air moves up through the filter it creates a small vacuum that pulls water through the sponge, much like how a syphon works. This means that all those bubbling air stones in your aquarium could be giving you the added benefit of being filters too and still provide some oxygenation to your water. BENEFITS: The sponge protects small fish and fry from being pulled into the filter The biological filtration works even with the loss of power; the nitrogen cycle continues as aquarium sponge filters keep good beneficial organisms Draws water from lower parts of the tank to increase water surface area and gas exchange of CO2 for O2 Using an existing aquarium sponge filter will speed up the cycling of a new tank by adding beneficial organisms. Air Tubing, air pump, and optional air stone not included.

Great Sponge Filter for Clean and Healthy Aquariums!

As my tests showed, this sponge filter does a fantastic job at keeping my aquarium water crystal clear and my fish healthy. The sponge is of high quality and is easy to clean, making maintenance hassle-free. One drawback is that it may not be suitable for larger aquariums as it's designed for small to medium-sized tanks. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this sponge filter to any fish and aquatic pets owner who wants to create a thriving aquatic environment for their pets.

Pros
  • Efficient filtration system, easy to clean
Cons
  • May not be suitable for larger aquariums

Ideal for filter accessories

Has a large hose size. I know it's for a bubbler, but I attached it to my rear filter holder because I have baby guppies. Prevents being sucked into the filter and fits perfectly while maintaining the flow performance of the filter. Not too bulky and perfect for my purpose.

Pros
  • SIZE: One unit filters 5 gallon aquariums and larger. The sponge filter provides a large area for beneficial insects to grow on, helping to maintain clean and healthy water in your aquarium once they become established. Some studies have found that the sponge is actually one of the best materials to use as a bioenvironment as it offers more surface area for beneficial organisms to grow. They also offer mechanical filtration that helps keep the water crystal clear.

Perfect for my needs

Very good foam filter - my drawing shows it used with a standard 1 inch air stone. To use the diffuser with this filter you have to pull the center out which is easy and cut the connectors to the center post where the air hose goes in - again very easy - and then just attach the diffuser to the top of the filter inside, connect hose outside, finished. is a low whisper, and the standard airstone I used doesn't create a large bubble effect on the water surface. Highly recommend - I need a filter…

Pros
  • Air hose, air pump and extra air stone not included.
Cons
  • I won't say anything
