Not what it should be. Do not stop.

Not what it should be. Doesn't stop surges as claimed. Called up the advanced industry to ask a question and that's when I found out that it's basically a device that tells you if the power is connected properly or not, it doesn't stop power surges and it doesn't protect anything. For this protection you need the model EMS-PT30x or 50x. Pic is a device with over-voltage, over-current, under-current, wrong wiring, etc.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Hard to say

Mine went out after almost 2 years, the "green" LED went out, indicating the use of a surge protector. Contacted Progressivecust. Repair support and was informed that it was beyond repair and that Progressive did not have replacement parts for the MOV card. I fixed it myself, the LED failed, 3 MOVs checked fine. It cost me about a cent. Oh yes, here is the "lifetime guarantee"

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • High price

Light burned out: tools and equipment

Very unhappy now. The block worked fine. After 14 months the blue light was not on (in my house). Note on open area. The electrician came. No problem with socket or home network. So I think the light burned out. A few years ago we didn't have them. I see no point in buying another one. EDIT/UPDATE: Over time another indicator burned through so I contacted the company. YOU MAINTAINED YOUR WARRANTY AND SENT ME A BRAND NEW DEVICE. The stars have changed to 5. Whatever you do, use one of these…

Hasn't worked since day one and hasn't responded

UPDATE: As it was under warranty I asked for a refund. They sent a new one. Too late, I already bought another brand. Now I am trying to get them to take this replacement and give me my money back. I bought it to replace the exact same one that was gone after a year and it didn't work from day one! The lights will come on, indicating the circuit is good but no power is being supplied. I have contacted the manufacturer 4 times and no response. Bought another brand with more features for about…

Don't buy better tools and equipment

I only bought this a few months ago. I have owned my motorhome for 5 years. I've never had a problem like this. I found that I had no power in my RV and noticed the surge protector on blue and red. The plug in the 30 amp box was in good working order. But as you can see, my power cord and surge protector melted and burned. After a lot of research, I found out that it was a defective surge protector. Remember I have been in the RV industry for over 10 years. Every tech I spoke to explained how…

Protects against surges

Bought a surge protector in March 2018 and kept the RV plugged in while at home. I've also used it in several campaigns. Everything worked fine. However, a few days ago I noticed that there was no power in the camper and thought I should reset the switch. I checked the circuit breakers but they were fine. Checked surge protector - not working. Pulled the plug and saw the burnt plug. I suspect we had a power surge that blew the surge protector. The camper hasn't seen any problems so far, so I…

  • Excellent performance

BEWARE WHEN GREEN LIGHT GOES Updated Review

In less than a year our surge protector went out. We've only used it three times. I contacted Progressive about the lifetime warranty and was told we had a surge but the motorhome was protected but the warranty doesn't cover the surge just manufacturing defects. After reading the reviews I saw someone said they had the same problem and the LED inside didn't light up. I contacted them again to ask how to tell if we had a climb and was told to open and take photos. Everything was good. I never…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Slightly torn

I purchased this product and recommended it to two of my camping friends before using it as I felt the "protection" they provided was worth the cost. One friend was new to camping like me and the other was a seasoned camper. We bought their motorhome (they have a third one) and each of them bought a new identical motorhome. During our first ride, the gauges on my device showed a problem. I changed my block to a similar block of my buddy. He had no problems on my side, but mine showed the same…

Bad Experience

I had my caravan at home during this whole COVID thing, with SSP-XL surge protectors plugged into my year-old external 30A socket that was installed when I got the new one switch box had. Furnished. I noticed that the AC in the trailer kept tripping the circuit breaker and the electricity in my hideout was flickering (two different circuits). So before calling an electrician or van dealer I decided on a whim to turn off the surge protector as you always fix the obvious first and the surge…
