K&N Has Never Let Me Down

A K&N filter has never let me down in over 20 years. I will say this was for my wife's car and the old one was hard to come by. Definitely not a hit on the filter, just wish I had considered that when purchasing. I will have the same problem, will relive it later due to limited space. If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought a K&N filter with a hex nut on the bottom. This would allow me to use a ratchet to remove the filter for the next 5,000 miles.

Pros
  • Still Satisfied
Cons
  • Modern

Excellent filter. Best in the Air Filter and Accessories Category

I drive a 1989 Honda CRX HF with 260k on the original engine. I try to change the oil every 3,000 miles and have used 4 of these filters so far (12,000 miles) and am happy to report that I will never use any other filter on my car ever again. I've read a lot of comments about more horsepower and better fuel economy, but to be honest the HF was never designed for more horsepower, and I'm already at 40mpg, so I can't say for sure that I noticed more horsepower or better fuel economy. These…

Stay away from this particular filter

Filter failed about 500 miles after installation. I had to tow the car to the dealer because the engine oil light came on and there was very little oil left on the dipstick. The dealer told me that the filter gasket had developed a crack, which was causing oil to leak out. I recommend this filter PS-1004UPDATEI got it under warranty from K&N and they said this filter is very old (this one was made in China) and the current ones are made in America. Not sure how long these chinese filters will…

Great filter! for air cleaner and accessories

I needed an inexpensive, good quality, high flow oil filter to remove engine varnish and sludge with 130,000 miles. Our '07 KIA Optima 2.4L hasn't had its oil changed at the correct intervals for the last 3-4 years. And when the oil was changed we went for a cheap oil change (poor quality filter and cheap Dino oil) so quite a bit of varnish formed on it. I installed this filter 2500 miles ago with a high mileage Castrol. Fully synthetic EDGE oil. I also added a pint of Marvel's Mystery Oil to…

  • 1 year trial period
