Sleek and strong for full tripods

This tripod is slim, strong and well made. The height suits me (I'm 5ft 11in). What you can't do is decrease the "footprint" of the tripod since the strut has only one position in the middle. However, this shouldn't be a problem as buying this tripod means you need a strong and stable mount for your camera. What you do NOT get when you put your feet on a tripod. very smooth The "tensioners" on the legs have a "stop" that prevents you from twisting them too much. I think people who break parts…

6 years old and still going strong!

This tripod is a beast! First let me say that I work in Hollywood, the best tripods in the world are gigantic and you need a truck to move them. Because they have to offer stability. This is the world of cinema. Then the photographers came and it got silly. Photographers need lightweight tripods, which is a contradiction in adjectives. The tripod is the base on which you can set up and eliminate unwanted camera movement. And when this thing is locked, it's almost perfect! Manfoto and Peak…

Does the spinning part of the ball move even when it's "locked "?

DO NOT purchase this tripod if you plan to use it with any type of boom/jib. I received this item for use with a Neewer Crane/Jib. Under the weight of the boom and camera, the rotating portion of the ball holder continued to move and roll in the ball holder area, ruining my footage. I struggled to get the locking bolt on the ball so that it really latched and wouldn't move under the weight of my gear. I FINALLY fixed it and I will never solve it. I had to do my best to lock the screw and I…

Great tripod but NO 75mm head

NO 75mm head. This tripod is really great for the price, but it does have a few significant drawbacks. The head tension mechanism slips fairly easily. , so it became quite difficult to use without blocking. Also, the head isn't actually 75mm, it's 65mm (I sent it back, I don't remember exactly, but I measured it). So if you just use your legs and head together, this might help you. However, if you want to use this head on another tripod or, for example, Dana Dolly (which we did), this will not…

Make sure your head is straight!

THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD. After posting the original 3 star review below, where I noticed the head was misshaped, the Ravelli creators called me. and basically said "3 star ratings are unacceptable to them" and they wanted to send me a new head and $20 off my order for my issues. I was shocked. The head appeared after a few days. Installed and everything is fine now. This is an excellent tripod. All in all, one of the best buys an independent filmmaker can make. Jump…

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Overall a nice lightweight tripod. Smooth movement is good EXCEPT! If the head doesn't tilt for even a few minutes, it has an annoying pause that ruins the footage. pan does not exist. I just can't take it when I'm on the beat and have to lean forward and SLACK when there's a pause and such a sudden start. It's a shame, otherwise I probably would have given it 5 stars. ***UPDATE*** I don't know why but I set up a tripod in the hallway. A couple of times a day I walked by and just flipped it up…

This thing will cut your hands

I've had this tripod for a little over a year and use it weekly. This is really a mediocre product. . It's been like this since day one, it needs a very, very tight mount to hold it in place. I absolutely would not use this with a slider and a heavy camera. The leg locking buttons all loosen over time and you might not even notice! They screw into the hitch bolts and will loosen over time. Put some Loctite on it. The upper pairs of legs are dangerous. The pinch bolts actually protrude from the…

WORTH THE MONEY!

I wish I could give this tripod 4 and 1/2 stars but I can't so I decided to give it 4 stars instead of 5. So this is my fourth Ravelli AVTP 75mm Professional video tripod. Let's get a few things out of the way (CONS) before I get into that. CONS: YES. There are better tripods than this. YES SIR. if they removed Davis & Sanford's video head and put it on top of this. TURN OFF THE LIGHT! YES SIR. This tripod is too heavy (weighs about 11 pounds). it's 4 stars. Well, for the money (I only paid…
