We have a rug that fits very close to our fireplace. And after one season I had burn marks that I had to fix. Such a carpet is suitable for the area in front of the fireplace. Used a whole season, no marks on the carpet and carpet. It's by no means soft, but that's because it's fireproof. Easy to suck.

Appears to be a hard wearing, well woven carpet, nice to look at. The color is very close to the image, although not as dark as in the photo (chocolate color). Can't rate longevity as it only lasted a couple of weeks but we've had 3 fires and a burst charcoal didn't burn the carpet when I got up to put it out. So far very satisfied.

I was going to buy another fireplace mat but the shipping cost was too high so I went with this one which had free shipping and was very happy with the speed. Delivery and quality of the carpet. This Fireplace Rug is well made and looks durable with great color (rust). The only disappointment was that it is thicker than advertised. I needed it thin enough to store under an Egyptian rug in front of the fireplace when no fire was burning. He's too fat for that. (thickness 7/16 inch). I'll re-evaluate it over time to see if it smoothes some and does good protection from ash sparks.

I don't understand the negative reviews, glowing coals leave marks on the carpet. That's what the mat is for - to protect the floor underneath! Coals flew out of my wood stove and the carpet charred a little – so what! That's why I bought it! Do not have unrealistic expectations and this rug will suit you perfectly. Ash and wood waste can also be vacuumed up very easily.
