Roadpower Tailgate Camera for Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 1999-2006, Rear View Backup Camera Integrated in Tailgate Handle (Color: Black) Review

I'm in the middle of installing it and this really isn't the quality I was expecting for the price. First, the tailgate frame doesn't fit as snugly as the last replacement I bought. I was surprised because this wasn't the problem I expected. Second, the cables are tiny, I'm not sure how well they will hold up. You have a wiring harness all around you and there are enough wires to connect it to the dash. I will update this later when the system is up and running.

I bought this from Revain thinking it was good value for money. I installed it in about 30 minutes. It worked fine the first day. The next day it didn't work. So I went to the back of the truck, tapped the camera, unplugged it, blew on it, and plugged it back in. It was of no use. I just assumed it was broken. Fast forward a week and I've driven my truck backwards and it's worked time and time again. But again only for 1 day! Now we fast forward another week and still nothing. DO NOT BUY!

Fit is terrible. Very free. But thanks to the 3m double-sided tape everything worked out. How long will we see. Also keep in mind that there is no "trigger" cable here, so you'll need to run a separate cable all the way to the main unit for all of this. It's more intended for a single or standalone monitor. UNLESS you use a separate trigger cable. At the same time, they say that this is a rear camera. So it works. Not the best, but you can see what's behind you. By no means is this an "HD"…

There is a gap between the tailgate and this rim. I believe the company is aware of this issue because they added double sided tape to attach it to the tailgate. Because of this, it doesn't look good. I would return it if it weren't so much of a hassle installing and removing the camera wiring. The picture quality is pretty bad, but not much worse than my 2019 Jetta. The bezel seems nice and solid, but it doesn't fit as well as the factory one. It has gaps and you will need to apply hot glue or something under the bottom tabs to lift the bezel for the top tabs to snap into place. Hot glue seems to stick to this plastic very well. See update below Original Review: So I like that it has a small plug and I've connected it to a good Kenwood touchscreen stereo. The picture is excellent. The plug is small, so what helped me was drilling a 1/2 inch hole in the bottom of the tailgate and using a rubber grommet filled with engine sealant, the "right stuff" to prevent rust in the bare metal.
