Doesn't last well for front covers

Pulled out of the fender the first time. Can't believe they didn't come with the right size fender washers. The provided device was not working. waste of my money.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Negative present

Deformed rubber protection

I am disappointed in this product. After installing this heat shield as instructed, it did not stop the rubber flap from distorting the heat from the exhaust. The deformation occurred during our first trip of just 1,300 miles.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Protection

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Kinda does what it's supposed to do.

It seems to isolate the area it covers. However the size is quite small and doesn't fully protect my Diesel 3500's exhaust. There is still some buckling and warping of the rather expensive stone guard because it doesn't protect the surface enough. I'll try it myself next time.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Not bad

Does not work on 2018 2500 HD

Mounting hardware transfers heat to the damper and melts it. It stayed the first time because only 2 out of 4 bolts had blown. I moved it because I thought I placed it wrong. This time all 4 mounting screws melted through. It landed somewhere between Ohio and Colorado.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • So-so

Saving my Rock Tamer fender

Looking at the discoloration I can see some heat transfer to the Rock Tamer fender after it has been in place for about a year. I only use Rock Tamers when towing a closed trailer. I plan on trying to "spread" the heat shield away from the fender before it melts the shield. Seems like he's still too close to friction

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • There are problems

Mounting holes melted

Heat shield installed as recommended to block heat flow from exhaust pipe. Much like at least one other customer reported, all he did was transfer heat to the mounting hardware, which eventually melted the valve causing the heat shield to fall off somewhere during our trip. The first photo of the deformed heat shield was taken about 400 miles away. The second photo, which shows nothing but four holes where the heat shield used to be, was taken a total of about 800 miles, so it lasted less than…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
