This was a gift for my aspiring artist (my daughter) who has a talent for drawing and hasn't realized it yet. So far the only complaint, and it's not hers but mine, is how dirty her fingers are from using this set. She loves the fact that this set gives her a lot of creativity and gave her enough confidence to try drawing more complex things. It was and still is a great gift for my daughter. I would buy this gift again if she asked and I would recommend this item to my friends and family.

I signed up for a beginner art class and needed a lot of supplies at a great price. I turned to this because I needed grape charcoal, it was the cheapest set (despite only containing 4 grape charcoal) and thought a tin would be handy. I am very pleased with this little $5 set. The glass itself is embossed, which is nice, and while it's a little flimsy, it's still handy for holding charcoal, crayons, and erasers. Everything arrived in perfect condition.

Great variety of charcoal in this set. I tested each part in different angles, smear effects, erasing, etc. You will need something to sharpen the pencils. Everything else works the way you hold the charcoal and use it (straight up, slightly tilted, just at an angle, sideways, flat or how you rub it on sandpaper. The tin they come in fits the size nicely from B. a cell phone or a portable art bag, and keep it all together. I just keep my sketches in a small cloth bag. Do whatever suits you.
