Saim Portable Aquarium Battery Operated Review

I bought this for a 6 hour move and it works great. I needed to move two separate containers so I put a splitter on top and it worked. Shortly after my move we had a power outage for several days and my 50 gallon tank continued to run on the same batteries I used for the move. Definitely deserves 5 stars from me.

Excellent durable housing, well sealed engine/electrical compartment. Absolutely horrible diaphragm pump design, the rotating shaft of the pump simply inserts into a hole in the diaphragm arm that rises and falls towards the pump. Used twice for 6 hours each. Then it broke, all worn out where the rod sits and no longer held in hand. Bad design. Fix it and this pin will be 5 or even 7 stars.

If you don't want to be disturbed by noise louder than your generator, choose another product. This thing is very noisy and annoying, especially when trying to sleep at night during a power outage. I'm sure you could find something much, much quieter. I would return it but by the time I used it my return window had closed so I'm sticking with it. I don't often take the time to write reviews but felt it was necessary. I live in California and have had several planned outages - one lasted 3 days and the last lasted a total of 5 days. This pump kept my fish alive - I have a 20 gallon tank with a large amount of cherry barbs in the tank. The pump will run 4 full days on 2 D batteries.
