Just received my Acer Aspire 5 laptop. I bought this RAM and upgraded my modest 4GB RAM to 12GB. I installed it by a computer technician and it gave me a blue screen error on my laptop. We removed the RAM and the error persists on power up. I think the RAM was defective and somehow messed up my laptop. I don't know how it happened, but my laptop was compatible with this RAM, it must have some kind of defect that caused something to appear on the slide on my computer.

If you're wondering if memory card sizes can be mixed, you can. I originally had 4GB and only two memory slots. I didn't want to add 4 and throw away memory if I later found out that adding 4 more wasn't enough. I took an 8GB flash drive and installed it where there was 4 (I remember reading somewhere that there should be more memory in the first slot). Then I reinstalled the 4GB provided by the factor in the second slot. The computer immediately recognized all 12 GB and works perfectly. Worthy
