Junk Electronics: Failed to Impress

Based on my observations, this device was a complete waste of money. It failed to perform even remotely as advertised, with the signal range barely extending past the original access point. The only positive aspect was the sleek and easy to navigate design. However, the cons far outweigh any potential benefit. Save your money and invest in a more reliable wireless extender.

Pros
  • Easy to set up and install.
Cons
  • May require resetting occasionally to maintain signal strength.

Works great - great product

My MBR TV setup includes a cable box installed in a closet about 50 feet from the TV (hanging over the chimney). When set up, A/V used a wired infrared setup that ran through walls, under floors, to a toilet. Unfortunately, some mice gnawed at the wiring and it doesn't work. I've tried everything including next gen extenders (bought 6 of these for different TVs over the years) and most recently Startech. Next generation have not been updated for years and eventually lose their functionality…

Pros
  • NOTE Some devices use RF instead of IR for the remote control. Blast IR Wireless Pro only works with IR devices.
Cons

Nice product and customer service

I ordered this BlastIR Wireless Pro IR Repeater from Sewell to replace another company's wired IR repeater. We put our TV against the wall and try to hide all the wiring behind the walls and/or in a closet. We still have a few cables, but with this product we've been able to eliminate IR wiring entirely. It's a real improvement in both looks and performance over the cheaper wired version we originally tried. The BlasterIR receiver is the room-facing component that receives the IR signal from…
