Woodcrafts Mismatch

I bought these to save time on a project I was doing. I could drill a 1/2 inch hole, install a pin and move on to the next step. NO. The problem is that the diameter of the base is very variable. Some of them are 1/2 inch in diameter. some are 7/16 and some are 3/8. So. I had to drill 3 different sized holes next to the holes I had already over-drilled. In the future I will make my own. How I had to give 2 stars here because they got here quickly.

These pegs were exactly what they said

I am making a shoe rack and needed easy to install pegs that didn't require gluing. These pins are made from 3" long hardwood (birch I think) with 3/4" screws that only require a small diameter starting hole. They are well made and securely attached to the 1 x 3 pine support boards. If you screw them into drywall I would recommend buying some plastic inserts so the screws will hold the drywall in place (I have no experience of using them that way). All in all, they fully met my requirements.

Inconsistent.: Unfinished wood

I bought a few of these to hang on a Shaker Style hanger in my pantry . They were fine and had a clear line between the tip of the pen and the pointy "throat" (for lack of a better term). But I didn't have enough of it when I put it in my pantry and wanted to continue the splint. When I ordered more of the same item, they were rougher. And the transition from the crown to the neck was rudimentary, having a long flat surface along the length of the crown. I sorted the pens, putting the prettier…

The spikes do not have the same diameter!

Pack of 25 pegs to sort by cleat size. Found 1 pin to use in the 1/2" hole (not tight). The rest I could use in a 31/64" or 15/32" hole, but because they were so different I also had to cut thin 90 degree slots in the spiral saw tenon and then drive a wedge - shaped screw in the middle for gluing. Once the glue set I removed the screw and filled the hole. Their appearance was acceptable, but they were waxy. It feels like I rinsed them with acetone and rubbed them down to make sure they were…
