Description of 🔪 SHARPAL 119N Diamond Knife Blade Sharpener (1200 grit) for Professional Chefs - Kitchen Sharpening Stick Rod, Honing Steel (Diamond Coated, 10 Inch)

Maintain your knife: The surface coating is very fine diamond particles (1200 grit). This level of accuracy is ideal for routine maintenance. Compared to other products using carbon steel, the grinding layer is more subtle and smooth, greatly extending the service life of the tool. Suitable for a variety of materials: Diamond is the hardest material in nature, so it can be used to sharpen all kinds of hard material tools that are not suitable for other sharpening materials, such as ceramics, hardalloys, and so on. Safety&Easy to Use: The protective ring on the handle protects your hand. The ergonomic handle makes for a comfortable grip, and the round sharpening bar makes your sharpening process easy and efficient. Storage: Dry the diamond surface when you have finished grinding the knife. We recommend that you put this product in a cool, dry place. 3 YEARS Warranty and Superior After-Sale Service: Sharpal headquarters in CA, US with overseas branches in Germany and Australia, aiming at providing consumers with an easy and cost-effective way to obtain a sharp edge. Manufactured and field-tested to the highest standards.

Excellent finishing touch for well polished softer alloy knives

I sharpen my Swiss Army knife before each use but steel sharpening steels are not good. I sharpen and polish all my knives with Japanese stones; Japanese knives are made of harder steel and don't need to be sharpened between sharpenings, but European knives like Wüsthoff and Victorinox are softer and need frequent sharpening to maintain their sharpness. Regular steel honing rods ruin the polish on my fine 6000 grit stone, but this ceramic rod is perfect. This keeps my edge fresh and sharp…

This ceramic stick rocks!

This is the BEST ceramic honing rod I have ever used! Just a few light strokes on it and it will bring your edge back to a new edge or the perfect edge you created with the Sharpal Double Sided Diamond Workbench! Everything about this product screams quality, it is exactly what I have come to expect from Sharpal, to be honest when I am looking for a new sharpening tool I go to Sharpal 1st, they are quality tools and the price is very affordable. Neither the tool nor the service department of…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Hard to say

Excellent ceramic rod. The length is long enough to easily sharpen my 10 inch kitchen knives and get them sharp again with just a few pulls. I like the rubber tip on the bottom so I can lay it flat on my countertop and easily cut through. I've used ceramic sticks for years, but this one is by far the easiest. The stalk is very smooth, it is not a rough stalk. I start by looking at the sharp edge of my blade to see if I see a reflection that indicates the sharp edge has been slightly bent. When…

PERFECT ! --- Would I buy again.

Great price - would buy again. (Or give one away.) In the past I've always used an EZE-LAP round diamond sharpener. But they cost $45. Ouch! I recently bought a Sharpal ($20) and see no difference in how they sharpen a knife. The only differences are: EZE-Lap is a diamond coated aluminum shank while Sharpal uses a diamond coated steel shank. The Sharpal is 1200 grit, while the EZE-Lap is around 600 grit. The length of the slide rails is about the same. And they both sharpen my knives equally…

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Nice Ceramic Hone and Sharpener

This is both a honing machine (edge smoother) and a fine sharpener. If your knife is really really dull you need a diamond sharpener for all super hard high quality modern stainless steels. But maintaining and sharpening a moderately dull blade is the right thing to do. By the way, if you don't know how to use a sharpener/sharpener then this tool probably isn't for you. To do a good job you need to hold the knife and sharpener at the right angle to each other and move the blade up or down and…

Restores the edge quickly, sharpens and sharpens

The Sharpal diamond sharpening steel looks like a traditional sharpening steel, but the Sharpal steel also gently removes the steel from the knife to give the blade a decent sharpness back . It can be used regularly to keep your knives sharp. The tip is pointed and can slide on a hard surface, so I use it by holding it upright on the countertop with a thin rubber mat to secure the rod during use. You can also use a cloth or sponge to prevent slipping. A heavy staff of (according to Sharpal)…

Good for home kitchen use but not for professionals

Replaces an old worn carbide steel sharpener. Too late, so my transition to knives was in dire need of a good sharpening. Sharal119N is the basic kitchen sharpener. It's heavy and could be used as a weapon, and I had to drill out the knife block a bit. 9 3/4" shank, 5" grip, .470" uncoated and .477" carbide shank. So it has a 0.0035 inch grit (nickel?) carbide matrix applied to a steel rod. Medium-light abrasive. It easily sharpens knives in good condition with just a few light strokes. It will
