Description of ๐Ÿ”ช Shun Classic 7-Inch Santoku Knife - Blonde PakkaWood Handle, Full Tang VG-MAX Blade

Shun's premium Classic Blonde Santoku Knife features our signature VG-MAX high carbon steel and layered Damascus cladding โ€“ a functional feast for the eyes of any chef. The beautifully modern, D-shaped, blonde PakkaWood handle encases the full composite tang blade for balance, reducing unwanted rotation and improving grip for right and left-handed chefs alike. A multi-purpose knife for virtually every cutting task in the kitchen, our Classic Blonde Santoku's 7-inch length and lightweight design make it an excellent chef's knife for small or crowded spaces. Handcrafted in Japan, this kitchen knife is ground and honed to a razor sharp 16-degree edge out of the box. Itโ€™s balanced immediately forward of the bolster like most Shun knives for superior handling. Santoku, nakiri, boning, slicing, or steak โ€“ Shun blades glide through food when used in a back-and-forth or rocking motion that applies some force parallel to what's being cut, letting the edge do the work.

Good workmanship is best in Asian knives

I gave this to my son-in-law who works as a chef for Christmas. He told me that he was very happy with the quality of the knife and enjoyed using it.

Sharp and long holds the enemy's blade.

Bought as a gift as I have had it for over ten years. Incredible knife. Expensive, yes, but. With proper care, your grandchildren will enjoy it.

Favorite knife for Asian knives

I have worked in the catering industry for many years and have used many different knives. This is my favorite so far. Browse through products. Very nice to use. A bit of an odd feel in my grip, but excellent slicing and chopping. If it proves strong and durable, then a really great knife. No chips, dents or rust. stay sharp

Pros
  • In stock
Cons
  • No insurance

NO CASES OR BOX FOR STORAGE!

Nice knife but no sheath/blade guard or storage box. I have no idea why such an expensive and high quality knife can't have at least a fifty cent blade guard. I have very little space in my kitchen and wanted a quality utility knife. What is it. The problem is storage. You can't just throw a quality knife unprotected in a drawer. Too bad for this company that they don't have a case and/or storage case. In addition, it will not be a good gift. It comes in a crappy box and doesn't look good.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Expensive

Very pretty! (i.e. aesthetic)

I would buy another one just to look at. The aesthetics are amazing. The look of the Damascus steel blade, the contours and color of the handle all look well put together and solid. Having been to Japan several times and witnessing firsthand Japan's love of aesthetics, this knife is for you. It makes me want to use it and use it often. The blade is insanely sharp out of the box. The spine and bolster protrude further from the handle so that none of the spine is exposed when a bamboo verticalโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • A little wrinkled

Exactly the same knife as a regular Shun Santoku. And as most people know, great brand with great quality. I really like the light color as it contrasts with the usual black. I'm left handed and this works well enough, the D handle doesn't make much of a difference when using your right hand. The weight and balance is where it really shines. I would definitely recommend this knife to anyone trying to break into the higher level knife scene. Definitely better than your regular $20 knife, butโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Flimsy

Very nice knife, cuts great

This is my first quality knife. I was a big fan of the look, the texture of the damascus steel, the light colored handle (very pretty compared to the plastic handles). The Santoku's shape means it's best suited for up and down chopping motions (unlike rounded blades, which are more of a wiggling motion). So far I've mostly used a chef's knife, so it's a slightly different technique and takes some getting used to. The knife is damn sharp and the steel is noticeably harder than my other knives. I

Pros
  • Good product for the price
