Simplicity 540 Protein Skimmer with Direct Current (DC) Capability Review

The Simplicity 540 DC Protein Skimmer is a perfect addition to any aquarium. Based on my observations, it efficiently removes excess protein and waste from the water, resulting in a healthier environment for my aquatic pets. The skimmer runs quietly, which is a plus for those who keep their aquarium in the living space. The only downside is that it requires a bit of a learning curve to properly set up. Overall, I highly recommend this protein skimmer for any aquarium enthusiast.

You can't beat this skimmer for the price, it's a beast. Has been working on my 280g system (large stock) for over 3 years, the only issue I've had is microbubbles. They replaced the muffler when I asked about buying a new one and now I broke a couple of screws holding the case to the base, they sent me new ones straight away!

When I bought my Simplicity skimmer I did it because my current one was broken and needed it badly. It came as a surprise and I didn't have much money to spend. My LFS introduced me to their new Simplicity line, although they also showed me my Vertex Alpha series at about double the price. Since my last skimmer was a Vertex and lasted over 5 years I wanted an Alpha but couldn't afford one. I chose Simplicity for cost rather than original desire. After 2+ years I'm so glad I did!
