🔧 Thermaltronics BC-10 Solder Tip Cleaning Wire: Optimal Solution for Effective Tip Maintenance Review

These things are great. I make and sell custom guitar pedals so I solder them all the time. They last surprisingly long and are very easy to solder. I've used 'premium' brands in the past which work well but are starting to ruin your tip. I ordered these because my solder supplier didn't have the brand I usually use and I needed something quick. I can honestly say I will never go back.

I have a soldering station and using a brass screen to clean the tip has proven to be a better method than wet sponges for me. I use these brass balls set into an old RadioShack board to clean the soldering iron between solder joints. I also use this setup along with solder paste to clean oxidized solder tips. The only thing is that they are a bit small. I had to put two in the bowl I have right now to fill it.

Difficult to describe but not as "tight" as the original in my Hakko 599B. I used 2 of these as spares. When you push or pull the iron, they feel soft and not as harsh as OEMs. The threads seem to stretch. It works, but it takes a little more effort to remove all the solder than the originals. Sounds finicky, but if you're soldering electronics, you don't need that distraction. I mean they're cheap, will probably last a month or a year before I need more, but I'll probably try a different brand

Ideal for the AVEN 17530 soldering iron stand! One of them is enough to install the AVEN 17530 Flat and Slim Iron Rest with integrated tip cleaner. This is the best stand I have ever used and it just looks good. It takes three to fill some of the larger tip cleaning holders as they are small. Although the price is great and the quality excellent, real yellow brass versus cheap copper plated or red brass knockoffs from other vendors. I hate using Brillo or SOS steel wool in the kitchen as they only last a few days before falling apart or rusting. Each of them lasts for several weeks and cleans perfectly! I've found similar pads at the grocery store but they don't last as long as this one. I've had no trouble scratching stainless steel pots/pans. By the way, after removing the sticky sticky mass, you still need to wash with a sponge because these pads do not contain soap. They also don't stick together with a sticky mass. so
