I'm not satisfied with the optics.

Today I received a helmet, I will return it. The LCD dimming panel is very unstable and therefore has poor optics. There is a dark diagonal line in the center that gives me a double vision effect when using the helmet. Imagine you are holding a stick in front of your face. The sides are also very bright. I turned on the video with the focus locked and camera brightness on. While the LCD panel mismatch can be seen on camera, it's far worse in person.

Pros
  • ✔Clear: Standard 3.62" x 1.65" clear with 2 arc sensors
Cons
  • The list goes on.

The electronics broke after 6 months.

Update: Was working pretty well, then suddenly it flickered a bit and stopped dimming. Tried new batteries but they don't work. A $61.72 loss that could have been used to improve the mark. The controls are a bit flimsy, it's all flimsy, but actually useful and works well. The plastic covering the LCD panel scratches easily and the whole thing feels a bit brittle, but it works. Auto dimming is fast and the loop mode is useful. The headband doesn't adjust very well. The headband is broken.

Pros
  • ✔Application: The welding helmet is suitable for most welding work.
Cons
  • So far so good

Nice helmet! - Security

Works well. Can't comment on the scratch resistance yet, but I'm always very careful not to scratch it. The controls on the outside are convenient and do not need to be adjusted before donning. It comes with an extra battery that can be replaced very easily if needed. I could not find anything with the features this device has for the price. . The screens seem popular and good value if you buy them individually. I really think that many helmets are overpriced. I'm glad I found this one. I'm not

Failed Simple Sun Test

I have tested two of these and none passed the simple sun test. Put on your helmet and look out into the bright sunlight. Lenses should be tinted and remain dark to protect your eyes. Instead, the lens blinks and then turns off. I checked the battery in the first one and it was already dead (3V instead of 3.3V in the new one) so I swapped it out and the behavior was still the same. Even assuming that the welder might be brighter (not always), or that the light variation is somehow used to…

Pros
  • Welding Helmets
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Electronics good, plastic terrible

This was my first attempt at making an auto-dimming helmet. As far as I could tell, the electronics worked perfectly. It was possible to point the helmet at the sun and it did not darken, but with welding or a grinder it darkened normally. The lens was nice and clear and easy enough to see through. My problem arose with the helmet itself. Don't get me wrong, I'm no snob welder. I have a cheap Radnor and a cheap Lincoln from Home Depot. Both are much more convenient. Something about that helmet…
