The fish was so big!

Despite its claimed 250 lumens, this light is incredibly dim. I think the review was either done with faulty hardware or by someone prone to exaggeration. I have a Streamlight flashlight - not for diving - it's only rated at 100 lumens. It is significantly brighter and provides a significantly better light image.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Big and chunky

Very Disappointed: Watersports

The Q40 was my backup for Virginia shipyard dives for years, a little light saved my ass a few times when my main failed. Damn, I only worked with Q40 under aircraft carriers. When the MK II came out I was excited to try it out. The little asshole didn't even survive a single dive before he left. The insides are shot through. 30 minute dive. 25 feet. Water temperature 54. I do not recommend. Stick to classic Q40s, they don't break.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Minor issues

Poor quality - broke when trying to change batteries

Have used this light on 2 dive trips in the last year (3-4 night/wreck dives using the flashlight on each trip). Batteries to get me ready for the next ride and when I'm gone screw the top back onto the chassis component with the plastic threads cut off. i'm not that strong It seems like a pretty bad design to break after only 2-3 battery changes. Very disappointed with the quality of this product.

Check out other options

I am a professional diver and have had this flashlight for about 6 months now. This makes it easy to change batteries between all dives. The flashlight also has a very easy to use switch on the back for easy on/off switching. I also confirm that this light can push the limits for scuba diving as I have descended to 150ft with no issues. fell out of position, something broke inside, and now the light flickers when I move it. I would recommend checking other options

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Only available in black

This is a sturdy little flashlight with a very powerful beam. I bought this lantern for a vacation in French Polynesia. We needed a stronger light so I took out my Q40 Mini MK 2 flashlight to illuminate the water. He crashed into the sea and sank to a depth of about 30 feet. over 8 hours and we were able to collect it in the morning, still on fire! I LOVE THIS HARD LITTLE LIGHT.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Some bugs

DO NOT BUY Diving Torch Product

DO NOT BUY. When I put the batteries in the flashlight for the first time and screwed the head lens back on, the external thread came loose completely. I couldn't even use the flashlight. The seller's page says I can't return the flashlight due to the return expiry date and the "Product Support" link is broken. I paid over 65€ for the product. unacceptable. I am very careful with my scuba gear and try not to over tighten the components. This is the second Underwater Kinetics product that I have

Unreliable good for sport

The old Q40 was my workhorse in California for lobster fishing, the MK2 let me down. While I really liked the idea of having an on/off switch on the back of the case, there seems to be a flaw in the design. The light seems to come on only after screwing the bulb on and off or tapping on the body. On a recent dive it just shut itself off, I thought the battery was dead, but when I tested it on my machine it worked again with no issues. The MK2 is said to be unreliable. My buddy bought the same…

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Great update to an amazing classic

I have 5 of these previous generation bulbs and have just bought one of the new MK2s. The old version of eLED plus was great and I used it as a backup light source too. as a general flashlight (in an RV, car, walking the dog, etc.). This is my favorite flashlight. The old version was turned on by twisting, the new version has a button on the back. I definitely like the convenience of the button, but there's a second flaw in terms of leaks if you're using it for diving. It can now leak around…

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive
