The switch didn't work like the one it replaced

The switch did not work like the one it replaced. Speeds were much slower, it seemed to go from high to low with a single press. 3 speeds but no medium speed only high and low to low. Should have spent a little more money. to get the right one. I mean, you already have the whole fan.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • The list would be long.

Not as advertised! for ceiling fans and accessories

The switch I received was a Westinghouse brand not as advertised. The internal voltages or resistances must be different, since the high speed setting now takes place in all 3 switch positions. So now I have a 10 year old Hunter ceiling fan/light combo with only 1 fan speed. Do not buy if you have a Hunter ceiling fan. Look elsewhere for an exact replacement.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • so so

Works for E198635, Hampton Bay ceiling fan

Replaced the broken 3 position switch in the Hampton Bay ceiling fan with this Westinghouse version. Although it was a bit larger, it had enough room for all the wires etc. I had to work harder than I expected to get each wire into the new switch. If you unplug the old switch before paying attention to where each wire goes, this worked for me: L black wire 3 purple wire 2 brown wire 1 gray wire

  • Cool product

Works great, but be careful when installing.

Please note you may need a soldering iron, solder, solid copper wire and heat shrink tubing to install it. You need some knowledge of handling electricity. Best of all, if you put the wrong wire in one of the holes on the new switch, you won't be able to get it out! I had to buy another switch and start over. I recommend watching a few YouTube videos before getting started. It works great and saved me from having to spend money on a new ceiling fan.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Big and bulky

When replacing, be sure to tin the wires.

The existing switch in our ceiling fan has mechanically failed, the plastic housing has broken and the pull chain has shifted. I can't get the wires into the switch. Using needle nose pliers to push wires through also helps a lot. I didn't use the included string and decided to use an old leftover string chain to lengthen the string as I didn't like looking at the string and questioning its durability. The switch works fine after replacement. I recommend this as a replacement.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Didn't work for my fan

I ordered this as the advert said it was a "replacement 3 speed ceiling fan pull chain fan switch with 4 wires going into the switch". The problem is that it didn't work. doesn't work to replace my switch which had 4 wires going into the switch. All I get is low and high speeds with no mid speed which I've always had. I wouldn't give a 3 star rating if it weren't for the fact that the indicator is meant to do this, but doesn't claim that this switch will not replace all 3 gang/4 wire fan…

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Scarce manual

3-speed switch *single capacitor*

The switch looks like an average quality for a third-party product. It's not as good as Made in America so maybe buy more if they don't last too long? The first time I connected the wires wrong I removed the wires and found that the second time around they went a lot looser so they weren't designed for that. I still managed to get it to work reliably. I think you get what you pay for. IMPORTANT: This is a 3 gang single capacitor switch (wiring: position 1 = wire #1, 2 = 2, 3 = 3) so it will not

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Minus available
