1500 is incredibly rough and fast.

Porcelain stone is smooth to the touch, but it can be deceiving. 1500 grit is incredibly fast and can easily break a blade if you're not careful. Just three passes and my knife feels sharp. I thought about getting a 400 at first, but the walk through the blade isn't worth it unless you're sharpening an old hatchet or something. I would also consider getting 5000 grit or higher for a high gloss finish.

Pros
  • Tools and household goods
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Excellent razor blade.

This is a high quality and very economical stone. It's perfect for adjusting bevels on razors, much better than some 1000 grit stones. Haven't used Chosera 1K but have been told it's interchangeable with Shapton 1.5K. Overall I am happy with the Shapton and love that the case can be used as a stone holder so there is no need to purchase additional gear (and they can be stacked with other Shapton cases for storage).

Pros
  • hand tool
Cons
  • vanish

This 1500 grit stone makes an excellent intermediate stone. I use it most often when my Chosera 3000 is too slow to repair, or as part of my stone progression after my 600 Chosera when re-beveling or repairing chips. Splash-n-go, a suitcase that's also simple and great value for money. I really like these Shapton stones. I highly recommend using it either as the final stone before sharpening or as a sharpening stone for something like 5000 or 6000 grit as the final stone. Fantastic value for…

  • Unbelievable Price
