It is programmable. The button on the Intellicord allows you to control two (2) functions in the radar parameter selection menu. However, you must set it up to perform the two (2) desired functions. It just disables the alarm. The cord isn't long enough to wrap around the edge of the windshield and it simply plugs into the cigarette lighter and lets you reach the silence, not the detector. I have mixed feelings about this cable. On the one hand, I love the indicators on the plug, and I love being able to power (or recycle) my radar detector with a cord. But on the other hand, the problem is when it comes to muting and turning off the power.
