I don't know why people are giving bad reviews for this product. I think because they don't know how to install them. You need strong fingers and a basic understanding of the mechanics. They need to be pushed through the corner of the carpet and then fixed. I'm guessing people can't block them by dropping the pin to the bottom of the carpet. Thanks to JFK's review, I decided to buy it. We have an 8ft runner in a high traffic zone that always went sideways when stepping on it. He also got lost while moving. We would have to reset it at least 4 times a day. I only used 3 of the 6 pins on the top of the drive/travel direction and the slider didn't move at all. This product is well made from durable materials and designed as you would expect. I'm using two of the four I originally installed at this point. The rug is held fairly flat with just two needles. I removed two more needles when my bare food was poked through her plastic face in the middle of the night. The edges are quite narrow and could potentially cut your foot if you hit the edge.
