WIX Filters - 58707 Auto Transmission Filter, Single Pack Review

Be very careful when applying. Speak to a knowledgeable Dodge representative/technician. If the part is right for your use, it will fit and work great. But I easily ordered the wrong part for the right transmission the first time. (It was the right app for my use)

Excellent replacement filter. Suitable for my Grand Cherokee 97 5.2 with 44re transmission. Comes with 2 spacers: one that I used with a corner cropped and another that is oddly shaped with rounded edges. The seal is thick rubber and hasn't leaked in a week. Both surfaces cleaned with paint thinner and no sealant used.

This is the second time I have used this filter on my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My first purchase sat on the shelf for 4 years and was still in great condition. Be sure to change the solenoids and actuating spring when you service the transmission so you don't have to do anything twice. I'm sure the oil pan gasket won't last that long. You get what you pay for.

The product has been listed as suitable for our 1997 and 1999 4.0 Jeep Cherokees. That won't work as the gasket and filter don't look like the right parts in any way. The filter is a metal element with 5 screw holes, both gaskets supplied had 14 screw holes, the gearbox has 19 screws. It looks like a quality product and the Wix is excellent but this kit will not fit the 6 cylinder Jeep Cherokee.

Includes filter and 2 gaskets. The pads are cotton pads and I put them under some magazines for a few days to smooth them out. Gaskets are made of silicone or some other rubber-like material. The filter turned out to be made from the same material as the previous unknown brand which was In and lasted 30,000 miles. One gasket fit my 1995 Dodge Ram and the other was gone. To hope it wasn't a leak, I retorqued the sump bolts to 13 ft-lbs. and so far so good. Good price!

Good filter! The gasket is a joke, no reason to use one, get a genuine OEM gasket from ChryslerUpdate: I used it for a fluid/filter change last fall because I read that WIX is a great brand for oil filters , I drove 2000 miles . on it and I had to reopen my transmission because the governor solenoid failed. When I opened it I saw that the filter was coming apart at the outer edge. I'm so glad I caught this, could possibly ruin my transmission! I chose the Napa Store filter.
