Excellent guide for 90 or 45 degree cuts

This saw guide is really good. I like the small, talkative and durable aluminum construction and non-slip pads. It is excellent for straight/even cuts with Japanese saws for two common cutting angles.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Very expensive

good sensor good for power tools

I have used this protractor several times and I find it very useful! This could be improved if the correct angle for the shanks and pins were marked on the gauge so it is clear which side to use for each application. I like the magnetic feature that keeps the saw flush with the guide! There are no instructions in the box, it would be nice to include them.

Really helps best with woodworking projects Sets

To be honest I wasn't expecting much from this product. However, it turns out that when you start the fishtail haircut, or even during it, it helps a lot. This may be due to my inexperience but I would recommend this product to anyone trying the dovetail for the first time or who doesn't have the sturdiest arms at the angle.

Use another tool to arrange the lines!

4 stars because I was hoping I could use it as a marking tool and not just a gauge. I use a scribing knife for more precise lines, and a scribing knife cannot be used with magnets on the guide. But the haircut does its job well. Make sure you make all the marks and set the lines before using.

Save Money: Power Tool Parts & Accessories

I have tried using this tool but the results have been very poor. The screen over the magnet protrudes and shifts the angle, twisting the saw blade toward the aluminum guide surface, causing you to cut into the aluminum. It's very fiddly to use and none of the faces are marked, making it a guessing game every time you put it down. After all, it just doesn't feel comfortable in the hand. I am about to order a KatzMoses device. It includes a 90 degree guide in the design and two magnets on each…

Excellent when used correctly.

I have an old design, looks more like a parallelogram than a trapezoid. I wish I had this one because the old one on the left side of the board doesn't work that well. This is not a problem with a loading flap. Otherwise it's great. I find the best way to use this is with a light touch of the saw. Just let the device find the corner. Strong magnets hold the saw in place. Do not attempt to operate the saw yourself. Some people complain that the saw cuts into plastic, but I suspect they are…

Simple and worthy.

I rarely write reviews, but it's worth giving this little tool five stars. Although I know how to cut dovetails, it's been a long time. In my first experience (cutting a walnut), a Japanese dozuki (dovetail saw) was used and the joints were marked by hand. It has a lot of gaps and not so straight saw lines. On the plywood scraps I used Woodraphic to mark the seams and guide the Ryoba (Japanese non-ribbed handsaw) to make the cuts. Works exactly as advertised. If you make sure that the jig is…

Good buy for power tools and hand tools

I recently bought Woodgraphic 1:6 and 45/90 saw guides but have been using them a lot since then. They are very well designed and offer the most affordable price for a product of this quality. I wanted to avoid clip-on saw guides, which would limit the thickness of the workpiece I'm working with, and avoid ones that rely on sandpaper to grip the work surface. My purchase decision fell on these, so I bought them and was pleasantly surprised. They stick very well to various hardwood surfaces, the
