Great performance for an inexpensive knife

I'm a big believer in quality knives and my 8" Wüsthof Chef's Knife is basically a part of me. Buying this Santoku was an experiment and he was happy. the hardest , but if you can overcome the lack of weight and balance, this is a great all-around knife for the money.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Negative gift

Caution, very sharp

I was looking for a knife for every day and decided on this one because: - I've been living in Germany for 6 years and trust a German kitchen brand; - I received a vegetable trimming knife from this brand as a gift, and it is quite sharp, and this one is very sharp. The only thing I can fault is that it is too spicy so be careful when storing or cleaning. I've cut myself before. A knife bag would be nice.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Something different

One of the nicest knives I've ever owned

This is the first really good knife I've ever bought and I have to say it didn't disappoint. It's lighter than I expected, but EXTREMELY sharp. I use it every week to cook chicken, fruits, vegetables and many other things. I hand wash and sharpen it after each use and so far it has held its edge exceptionally well. I will definitely be buying more Wüsthof products after using this.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Empty

I LOVE WUSTHOF KNIVES!

I have many Wusthof knives including the 7" Santoku and thought the 5" would be a great addition. That. I love Wusthof knives! They do not deform when cut, hold the cutting edge and are easy to sharpen. (I use a dry diamond sharpener to sharpen them, and they work great.) I grew up with classic knives, and after getting knives from other, smaller brands, I've always set them aside to use my Wusthof. I can't say enough good things about these knives. These knives are worth the money. Just wait…

Pros
  • Heavy Duty
Cons
  • Approximately

They are really created for the owner of every kitchen.

Wow! My husband keeps our knives sharp but they take their sharpness to the next level. I bought four Wüsthof knives for his birthday, but I always use them. They really are made for the master kitchen. This is the first Santoku we've used. In fact, we are now seeing their use in cooking shows. They feel good, sharpen and wash well. I never leave them in the sink; I treat them with the respect they deserve. There's a good reason for their price; the best there is. I may have to start counting…

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Can hurt

I immediately bought a gourmet knife and am very happy with it

I have a combination of a Wüsthof Classic and a gourmet knife. Because of the price I decided on a gourmet knife and I am very happy with it. It's sharp and cuts veggies very thinly, which is what I wanted. It can also be sharpened with the Wüsthof knife sharpener which I use on all my Wüsthof knives. I'm not a gourmet chef but I love cooking healthy home cooked food for my family and friends. This knife might not last as long as classic knives, but for $49 I felt I would get my money's worth…

Pros
  • complete set
Cons
  • strap

- these 5 inch Wüsthof Santoku knives have changed.

- just a note on the handle of these knives, it's not. that's all. not sure if this is better or worse, just took it and put it on my old one and noticed that the new one has no metal at the junction between the handle and the blade. I like the look of the old one; the handle is also slightly larger, the knife is 1/4 inch longer, but the blade is the same size and shape. It will take me some time to figure out which is the best, but for now for anyone looking to customize their set or replace…

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • So-so
